So I think I've finally perfected my Gyaru make-up and I wanted to share it with you as my first official post!
I've created some pictures to explain the breakdown of the look and hopefully it could help out some budding gyaru in the future~
I know that I'm not an expert and I would never claim to be - I'm still a newbie, too - so we can all help each other out. Anyways, enough of the explanation, here's the 'tutorial', if you want to call it that.. :3
1. Face Make;
The parts in white are highlights, brown is contour and pink is blush!
*First I apply moisturiser, I use the Miracle Mattifier by Good Things, this reduces oiliness and helps prevent breakouts, it also makes a great primer for the next step..
*Foundation! I don't usually wear foundation, so instead I use the Super+ Triple Action BB Cream from Skin79 in pink! I apply this using a stippling brush to get maximum coverage.
*On top of this I apply my concealer, which is Maybelline's Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer in the lightest shade, since I'm so pale (^^;). I dab it on using the brush, then blend it with my fingers. The areas I use it are on my dark circles, either side of my nose and on any imperfections, such as spots.
*Next I use pressed powder by Rimmel London - it's the Clear Complexion Clarifying Powder in Translucent. I apply this with a kabuki brush in a patting motion, as this gives higher coverage and won't smudge the concealer around.
*For contouring I use an off-brand eyeshadow roughly two shades darker than my skin-tone and apply it in the hollows of my cheeks and either side of my nose, then blend it. This gives the illusion of a thinner face and more dimension.
*For highlights I use any pale beige or white eyeshadow, depending on how natural I want it to look, and I simply swipe it in a straight line down my nose, blending it upwards onto my forehead. I also add a highlight to my brow-bone and cupid's bow to give my face more glow.
*Lastly I apply a blusher, the blush that I use is called Pink Cloud by Natural Collection. ^^
2. Eye Make;
The grey is eyeliner, white is eyeshadow, browns are eyeshadows and pink is lipstick!
*First I apply a beige base of eyeshadow all over my eyelids, this makes the rest of the colours easier to blend and brighter, too. (You could also use a primer for this step, such as Urban Decay's Primer Potion).
*After this, I apply a white eyeshadow to the inner corner of my eyes and to my brow-bone, a beige can also be used to keep it more natural.
*Next I use a gold eyeshadow on the middle of my eyelid to make it pop, as well as making my eyes appear bigger and brighter. I then use the same eyeshadow to line halfway across my bottom lid.
*Then I apply a matte brown to the crease of my eyes and blend it well to give it a soft look, as well as in the very corner of my bottom lid - this will give your eyes more dimension and create the look of big dolly eyes, which are the key to gyaru make!
*Once my eyeshadow is done, I use my Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner in black to draw a thin line across my lid, trying to keep as close to the lashes as possible. I drag the line downwards a little bit, mimicking the usual gyaru style.
*The final and most important step to achieving gyaru eyes is fake eyelashes. I use Dolly Wink No.1 and No.5 - top and bottom lashes. Make sure that you curl your real lashes and apply mascara BEFORE applying the fake ones - this way you can use them again! Once they are stuck I re-curl my lashes to make sure they are blended with the falsies and I'm done with the eyes!
*The final step for my make is lips - I apply Vaseline before anything else to make sure that my lips are moisturised, then I use Candy Doll Lipstick in Ramune Pink. Sometimes I'll top it with Candy Doll Lip Gloss in Macaroon Pink.
And that's it!
I hope you find this useful and if there's anything I missed just let me know!
I love to learn new things and ways to improve myself.
Arigatou Gozaimasu,
Suru-chan~ <3
